The Arc’teryx Cerium provides a high-quality product with 850-fill power down.It is stylish, warm and super light.
Another positive point of this brand is, this jacket can be folded and made small. You can pack into a small bag. It doesn’t take too much space and is light on your baggage while you are on the go. In a word, it is portable.
Another feature that we absolutely love about this jacket is its fittings. It has a perfect snug fit. product with feel that the jacket has been tailor-made just for you.
Also, you will get the opportunity to wear this jacket as an under a shell or outer layer. Yes, this surprising feature is not found is many jackets. In the other jackets, they can loosen and become snug as per the requirements of the wearer.
However, if we talk about the price, this product is a bit towards the higher. Though the price is high it provides you with a high-quality product with maximum performance.
Warmth and Fabric
The Cerium is filled with high-loft down on the hood. It is sewed throughout the compartments till the back and the neck. It uses the special Arc’teryx’s Down Composite Mapping which goes on to include the panels of Coreloft synthetic insulation in special places.
The special places are the neck and the shoulders. These places depend on the threat of high build-up of moisture.
The jacket is noticeably thin in comparison to any jackets which is filled with down. In spite of it being thin, there is no compromise on the heating capacity. You will be warm and toasty while wearing it during the cold winter.
Water resistance
The Cerium fabric comes with the DWR treatment. The water resistance is average, a small amount of water is absorbed, especially around the front zip and the shoulder. However, other than these areas, we have found no areas or no other issues from the users.
The whole jacket is compact and warm. It is durable and long-lasting, unlike some of the Chicago winter jackets.
This jacket uses the Coreloft synthetic insulation as material. This material is used in specific areas, especially the shoulders. This is done to lessen the wetness that can happen during heavy rain or snow. The hood and the arms do not have Coreloft panels.
Fit
The Cerium offers excellent fit. This jacket is loose enough for movement without discomfort. You can move easily. It does not mean that the jacket is baggy.
It is just the right fit, the way we always want! This jacket is well loved by people not only for its perfect fit but also for the long sleeves. It offers convenient movement, which is a rare case if compared to the other jackets.

This Arc’teryx Cerium jacket comes with two zipped pockets, which can also work as hand warmers. It also has a single pocket at the chest. Yet, no internal stash pockets are available.
The hood is secured by a single drawcord. It is situated near the back of the head. In this case, you have to be careful. There is a possibility of getting a bit uncomfortable, especially around the ears.
It also comes with dual hem drawcords. You can easily tie and stop the cold harsh wind from entering. By doing this you can ensure that you stay warm.

Though you will find it a bit pricey but it is a good deal indeed. It is the durability of this jacket which makes it just right for being a multi-active jacket. It can easily be worn in the home, or on the way to the office, or at the mountain edge. It is right for all occasion.

The face fabric that is used in Thorium is Arato 30 is a tightly woven taffeta and is made from the best and the finest denier fabric. This fabric ensures that the down filled into it does not escape and makes it long-lasting and durable.
It’s soft and smooth, which makes it easier for layering. It also makes it tear resistance. It also comes with the typical Arc’teryx’s DWR finish. This does not allow water to stay on the jacket and the water does not get absorbed. It slides off as soon as it falls on the jacket and it happens because of the hard shell.
Warmth
The Thorium is made with the combination of 750-fill down and Coreloft synthetic insulation. This is the typical way in which Arc’teryx thorium down garments is made. It means the minimal exposure of down to an area which is prone to moisture.
The synthetic fill (named as Coreloft synthetic insulation) is found in the hood brim, under the arms area, and around the cuffs.
Features
The Arc’teryx thorium has been in the market for quite some time now. It was not the best the company has added some minor changes. With the changes, it also improved the previous features and design of the product.
This FALL, the company has added an interior zipped pocket. It has also added a chest pocket for storage, hand pockets and a hood sack in the pocket. These sometimes can be mistaken for the lining.
Review of Arc’teryx Cerium vs. Thorium
The Arc’teryx thorium has made a few changes. Now they come with a larger zipper, which is easy to zip and unzip with one hand. They never snag. This zipper also stays intact in one place, neither going up or down. It is one of the best changes that the company has come up with.
Also, the hand pocket zipper has been changed and made large. It makes it convenient for most people to open and close the zip pocket.
This also means that your hand will not get stuck to the zip teeth. In the case of the small zipper, there is a chance of getting stuck with your hand.
Some people might think that the big zip is too much for the pocket but I would suggest that you should try it once. I bet you that you will really like using it. It is because its comfortable to use and also has the feature of non-snagging.
The sleeves of the thorium are long and so it allows you to keep your wrist warm. There is enough room near the shoulder and it allows you to comfortably move your body.
There is also enough space at the torso so that you can easily zip the jacket over any climbing kit or harness. The length is not too long but the fact is it can cover the upper body till the waist completely. The only drawback is you may find it a bit uncomfortable and tight if worn over a helmet.
The Arc’teryx cerium, as we discussed earlier in the article, is a bit expensive. But this kit is super lightweight and this is really a relief from wearing all that heavy jackets on a cold winter day.
It is easy to carry and portable too. One minor negative issue is that it gets damp around the shoulder and the zip area. But thanks to the material as the water does not penetrate the jacket making you feel cold. The damp is only visible on the outer surface and not on the inside.
